If teapot really thin is it slipcast or not authentic?

by foob » Oct 7th, '20, 00:45

Got a pot that's really thin and light compared to typical yixing teapots. Described as "egg-shell" by seller.

I'm sure human hands can make very thin walled pots, but is that ever done for yixing teapots?

I would describe the thickness at half of typical yixing teapots. Possibly 2mm.

I once purchased an extremely thin-walled fully handmade Gong Chun but it leaks at its "wrinkles". Merchant checked with the artist and had to return it. Most of my other thin-walled pots are slipcast or semi-handmade "plain" design ones.

I see so many possibilities argh. Guess all that matters is whether I like it or not.
